The must-see museum
An exceptional collection
First essential stop: the President Jacques Chirac Museum. The contemporary architecture houses a fascinating collection of 5,018 gifts received during his two terms. New this year: immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Élysée with the reconstruction of the “Salon Doré,” the presidential office.
Practical information for your visit
Open from 10 AM to 6 PM (closed Mondays), the museum offers guided tours at 11 AM and 3 PM (reservation required). Allow 2 hours for a complete visit.
Admission: €8 adult, free for children under 12. The ticket includes access to the permanent and temporary exhibitions. A game booklet is offered to children for a fun discovery of the collections.
Nature discovery and hiking
Puy de Sarran
At 819 meters high, Puy de Sarran offers stunning views of Auvergne. Take time to stop at the orientation tables to spot Sancy and Puy Mary. Numerous marked trails allow you to explore the surroundings.
Hiking trails
The Puy de Sarran trail offers a panoramic 6 km loop (2 hours, moderate elevation gain of 150m) accessible to the whole family. This route alternates between shaded woodland and open viewpoints, offering a wonderful introduction to the Monédières landscapes.
For a shorter walk, head to the Tine pond: its beech forest welcomes you in a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for observing nature (3 km loop, 1 hour, gentle elevation). Picnic tables are set up near the pond.
The three puys circuit offers more experienced hikers a great challenge (12 km, 4 hours, 400m elevation gain) with exceptional panoramas over the entire region.Read more
A changing landscape
Don’t miss the paths crossing the heather moorlands, so characteristic of Corrèze. Throughout the seasons, the landscape transforms: pale pink carpet in spring, explosion of purple in summer, golden hues in autumn. The most beautiful viewpoints are earned at the beginning or end of the day, when the light enhances these wild expanses.

Family activities
The Terra Aventura adventure
Treasure hunt enthusiast? The Terra Aventura trail “Between moorlands and forests” takes you on an original discovery of Sarran. A 5 km walk filled with riddles, perfect for families (level 3/5).
Download the free app before you go and bring water, a pen and good shoes. Children leave with a collector’s badge once the treasure is found!
For sports enthusiasts
The village offers several facilities with free access: a modern sports court for team games, a tennis court (time slot reservations at the town hall) and a pétanque court where locals and vacationers gather for lively games. Boules rental available at Patati Patata.
For younger children
Children will enjoy the secure playground while parents relax on the shaded benches. A small cultural stop is possible at the book exchange box. Also remember to ask for the “Explorers” trail booklet at the town hall: created by schoolchildren, it reveals the village’s secrets to curious young minds through 12 fun stops around the village.
Heritage to discover
Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens Church
This church from 1409 is worth a visit for its typical Limousin architecture: notice its characteristic portal and imposing bell gable. Inside, admire the medieval sculptures and the pietà, true treasures listed as Historic Monuments. Visits are possible daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. For a free guided tour, contact the Friends of the Church association (information at the town hall).
An authentic village
As you stroll through the hamlets, you’ll encounter witnesses to life in the past: the bread oven at Le Bru (still used during village festivals), the Rouffiat fountain with its restored wash house, and the Moulin du Cher. The latter, now a bat refuge, offers explanatory panels about local wildlife. In July-August, free nighttime visits allow you to observe these fascinating mammals (registration required).Read more

The grocery store is full of Corrèze specialties: Monédières blueberries, farmhouse cheeses, heather honey…
